Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Are the works current happening near Jewsons at the moment, the implementation of the results of the traffic study?

It looks like the same one- did you mention this earlier (not sure I saw it if you did).

I think this is a tricky situation for everyone, including those who live and need to park on Wightman.

Undoubtedly, there will need to be some bedding in, and some (sensibly sympathetic) engagement to make sure those parking are aware of the new regime. That said, yellow lines is yellow lines, and they are pretty obviously bright and shiny, and no less applicable- so to a degree ignorance should not be an excuse.

It is not helpful that you still have a situation in some places that you can clearly see in your image Laura with gaps in the lines- as this will add confusions, allow people to game the new system and reduce the legality of enforcement against anyone parking on that stretch to pretty much zero I believe.

I have suggested to Haringey some enforcement would be helpful, as the vehicle you and I flag here has been there (at the point of my image at least) for 24 house and I don't see a ticket on it, or a friendly note in the first instance explaining the new regime with a big 'shift it' notice... I would not discount that it may have been there for days and the new paint lines delineating the new box has been added while the vehicle was in situ and the driver has not been back to it for a few days.

This was tweeted to me earlier.

The selfish b******s

That's appalling. I wonder what time of day that was?

We all need to keep evidence - such as this - to show Haringey Council that the work on Wightman Road has failed.

These vehicle drivers are forcing children, pedestrians, the elderly, wheelchair users - everyone in fact - onto the carriageway. I have no sympathy if their cars are damaged. Selfish *****

Unbelievable! What stretch is that on?

Seymour-Hewitt.

You can almost read the subtext - Look, these b*****ds have taken away my parking space. It's bloody ridiculous. So I'm just going to bloody park outside my house anyway!

I have sympathy with the predicament but not with the solution.

They are selfish twats and have no excuse . It's too far from my place but I hope someone should photograph the cars and ping it off to the council.

It was sent.

I think the streets are patrolled at least once a day by parking enforcement so the owners of these vehicles should start racking up fines very quickly.

I wonder if Haringey are in an awkward position since the parking/road arrangements on Wightman Rd have actively encouraged pavement parking for the past 20+ years? There are still some bits where the markings suggest that it is OK.  So it might be difficult to oppose an appeal against a fine in these circumstances?

I suppose it's worth a try: "The roadside itself is now painted double yellow so I assumed I needed to park entirely on the pavement, your honour"

Some folk have no intention of ever paying any parking fine for a variety of reasons, mostly not available to most of the rest of us. Usually the only way such folk can be made to pay is if the car is impounded. But here, the fact that the line isn't continuous probably means they might be able to successfully appeal. But I'm not a lawyer.
