I'm amazed at how many people are still driving to the Arena shopping park - I would have thought they'd go elsewhere given the queues.
I agree with Matt's point about shopping being a religion, and not just on Sundays. I popped up to Broad Lane retail park on Monday to pick up something for my computer. Had to circle the car park for ages to find a space - the whole place was rammed with cars and people. Then a long queue to get out again.
I understand and sympathise, having done a bit of running. Good luck with the marathon.
I know what you mean but I bought one of these from Amazon a while back, works really well on longer runs actually.
I bought some Fitletic "hydration add-ons" recently (i.e. water bottles that attach to a belt), they seem to work very well so far.
My missus says they make me look like Batman, so I'd probably wear them anyway, even if they didn't work.
I think I'll get one. I was pondering whether the splashing of the water in the bottle would annoy me or not, but I think its probably the right answer for training runs. I can always shove my headphones in further to drown out the noise. Thanks for the tip! Having said that, the marathon is only 10 days away now and I'm running out of time for training!
You should be tapering now, not training...
Good luck. I am afraid I can only ever get my head around doing halfs, a full marathon is a hell of a commitment!
It will be interesting to see how traffic adjusts over the next 4 or 5 months. Will people find alternative routes/modes of transport or just persist with the traffic. When changes are made permanent then people tend to change what they are doing but I wonder whether this will be the case with a temporary change.
On the bus lane, and it only operating 7-10 on weekdays, I had a quick look at the data and you can see why that is the case very easily from this graph http://1drv.ms/23oCRdH
Personally, I'd prefer no parking on Green Lanes and wider pavements or cycle lanes and a faster bus but I can't see that happening.
Hi Andrew, your chart does show traffic drop off sharply at the Duckett measuring point for Green Lanes, interestingly the Lothair measuring point further south doesn't drop off quite so much - I think this is because by that time quite a bit of southbound Wightman traffic has joined Green Lanes via Burgoyne and Duckett itself. This traffic (and more) will presumably now be on Green Lanes all the way, which might be an argument for extending Bus Lane for longer than 7-10am?

Ah, I was talking in general terms about the bus lane being 7-10am, not during the bridge replacement.
I'm not sure how relevant the data is to the current situation as I suspect journeys will be changed for the next few months.
The interesting thing will be seeing the volume of vehicles on Green Lanes. I suspect it may only be a 20% increase or so, nowhere near the volume of Green Lanes + Wightman.
I think you really need to get a browser that plays nice with HoL's forum. I can't tell who you're responding to, even though it might be me.
