Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

.. Is a solicitor's firm, ostensibly of the ambulance-chasing variety, is setting up shop in the empty building opposite the pub and has garishly adorned its frontage thus...

Surely this needs planning permission on account of its size and prominence? And surely the council will take action? ..

One thing is beyond doubt - this sign is a provocative eyesore. If it stays we can surely all agree the piazza dream is dead...

It was never more than a fantasy in the mind of someone doodling on a computer.

But, not knowing  anything about urban landscaping, I wonder how those trees are supposed to get water. The rainwater capture area of the " pits " is miniscule.

I am hoping it is water permeable resin bound gravel...but this might be hoping too much.

It is a shame. They also had a banner up a few weeks ago along the lines of - had an accident? Claim for compensation and get a free laptop.....

Yes, it's not ideal, BUT do remember what fate nearly befell that spot and then count your blessings.

They should get a lot of business from drinkers sipping their Camparis on the piazza when a bus or an HGV fails to make the turn and runs them over

In another latest development, I noticed the two granite nautical bollard-like structures right outside the pub. Nice touch (but one has a flat back. Did it break in transit or is that a design element?)

Would it work for resting pints on? :)

I heard that the bollardy things (!) mimic the columns in the pub facade - and I reckon they do

There are similar sinister black "bollards" in other places on Green Lanes now, so I suspect the design is nothing to do with the Salisbury.

They do echo the columns inside the pub but they just don't work. They might look better if they varied more in height and there were a few more of them.

Other random bollardy things have appeared at the junction of Burgoyne and Green Lanes. They don't look permanent

Totally agree, Pav. That fire that helped the demolition along was very "unfortunate" wasn't it?
