Well, exactly one month after the 'hand over' to Veolia from Enterprise, I've got a few observations about how they are doing in my little bit of N4.
Helpfully, I have been provided with this information:
- Main roads and the first 50 metres or first junction of headings are to be swept daily
- Harringay Passage should currently be swept 3 times a week Monday, Wed and Friday.
- The removal of dog mess should be carried out when providing the scheduled sweeping regime.
- Street cleaning bags should be collected after the scheduled sweep has been carried out. Our new waste contractor (Veolia) has been working on dedicated collection locations for sweepers to leave bags to be collected.
The full schedule for a twice weekly clean of roads should be available by the end of May
However, can I urge people to report all poor street cleanliness, fly tips etc using the report a problem button on the right hand side of the home page. Doesn't matter is you think someone else might do it, better a few reports of the same problem, than none at all.

Thanks, Liz, this is very helpful.
This evening Reg Rice, Lorna Reith and I will be meeting Fabrice Bouchon, the Veolia Regional Manager to walk round some of the dumping 'hotspots' in Tottenham Hale ward. Veolia managers are members of HoL. But in case he hasn't already seen your list, I've printed a copy for him. (With the link to your Flickr pages as well.
The willingness of Veolia to engage contasts strongly with my experience Haringey Enterprise/ Haringey Accord. I'm also impressed with their openness to ideas about tackling the causes as well as the symptoms.
Hi Liz.
Thank you for your feedback - and sorry for the dealy in getting back to you, i am not yet fully HoL conversant yet...
As you rightly report, our organisation is still very much a work in progress and we are very keen to hear from residents about our services as this can only help us to improve – residents can also give us feedback directly on our website - http://www.veoliaenvironmentalservices.co.uk/Haringey/Contact-us/
As a possible way forward, I would like to meet with you in person to discuss the various issues and challenges within your area to come up with the best solutions on an ongoing basis.
Cllr Stanton has my contact details as we had a very fruitful walkabout in the streets of Tottenham last night. Please get in touch and we can arrange a convenient time.
Best regards,
Fabrice Bouchon,
Veolia ES Regional Manager.
Great response, Fabrice. Thanks for coming online to comment.
Of course the benefit of feedback being given on here Fabrice is that it's open and transparent. Everyone can see the issues and hopefully your replies. I'd welcome your using of the network in this way if you'd like to make use of it.
A thank-you to Fabrice and his Veolia colleagues, Jean-Francois Moreau and Steve Fletcher.
Also to mention that the walk was organised by Cllr Reg Rice who's been assiduously reporting dumping - especially in these streets. Of course all three of us keep an eye on the nearby Carbuncle Passage.
I take Hugh's point about openness. So I suggest that when people use Veolia's Contact Us webform to make suggestions or give feedback, they may also choose to post it here.
Another not quite unconnected question. Just watched surprisingly interesting Panorama on disposal of e-waste, where they sent dud TVs fitted with trackers for 'proper' disposal. Two out of three ended up poisoning kids in West Africa. Watch it here, for another year.
So - where does Haringey's e-waste go? There seem to be a lot of what we used to call spivs, in the trade.
Dear Hugh,
Yes, Veolia fully supports the Love Clean London app and we are working on this link between LCL and our own systems. Our CIO was invited to the official launch in Richmond in March (http://lovelewisham.wordpress.com/2011/03/10/boris-launches-love-cl...)
Regards,
Fabrice
