Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Get Paul Simon's horrible signs off the front of Harringay's listed building

Found myself in the Salisbury tonight as it happens and got into conversation with the manager about the very intrusive sign and banner that have appeared across the front of the Salisbury - a listed building.

He is pretty furious about it and has requested that the signs be removed asap. It seems that Paul Simon claim they are applying for planning permission for a sign but do not have it yet, so please put in a complaint about this when you have the time and get these awful adverts for this awful company removed!

Paul Simon deface listed building

I don't understand this, Liz. Do Paul Simon own the part of the building where they've placed the sign? Or have permission from the owner? From the manager's anger, it appears not. Please see my comment here.
On another note, did you see the array of estate agent signs that had blown off last week when it was really windy. There was one of those commercial PS signs which are double the size (and weight) of residential signs on the floor inbetween Allison and Hewitt roads. If that falls on someone, its goodbye.
Basically, there are some empty premises on the first floor to let and the owners of the premises must have taken on Paul Simon as their agent. However, as I'm sure PS are aware, to put anything on a listed building needs planning permission, which they claim to be applying for. They started with an ordinary large sign and have now progressed to a massive banner...just in time for the Harringay festival. No coincidence.

The manager does not want his landmark building festooned with estate agents banners but can't do anything directly as his company are not the owners. Therefore, he needs people to complain on the grounds of no permission and also because the signs are intrusive...you can be sure this would not be tolerated on any listed building west of the train tracks!
I have a tall ladder, a hammer and a screwdriver. What about a bit of DIY?

SO, GO GET EMAILING!

(PS: I've called Brian this morning to follow up on the story in this post - [see bottom of page 2 of this post for lots of links to info on the legal situation around this issue] - and this one and pick up on this new issue. I left a message with Chris Georgiou who's been great in the past.)
This guys is STILL on it? Really? Obviously not a massive priority then, or he's just another oxygen thief at the council.

Paul Simon disgust me. We should organise a HoL wide boycott.
Have just updated the HoL Wiki page on this issue. Hope it's now a useful resource.
Thanks for the contact numbers Hugh.

As you can see I wrote this post all fired up at 12.30 at night and did not have all the relevant info to hand. I have added a photo to the post so that people can see why I was weeping with rage into my pint last night!
They're breaking the law. Only one sign is legal. Their size would need checking too.

Send an email. Get on the phone. Make a phuss.
I have just been assured by Nilgun Canver that he is going to ask PS to take them down via the planning officers.
You rang her?
No emailed all on your list including her (not him : ) )
