Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Rather than cluttering up another thread where this subject came up -
http://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/please-help-us-raise-70...
I thought I would start a new one on the subject for those who are interested in continuing the debate.
The thing that got me interested was this quote in the thread I've linked to above

"Global warming is perpetuated by the media and the left because it has all the things the left love: A way for tin pot dictator countries to use the UN to shake down the USA and the West for money; a problem that only government can solve, so government of course has to be made bigger to address and you need to be taxed even more because of it."

So I decided to see who else was talking about it and found this from what seems to be a non-tin pot dictator organisation

And this one in the other side of the Atlantic

NASA was commandeered by someone who is rather akin to a tin pot dictator, Barack Hussein Obama. Nasa under Obama is not reliable:

Look, I work in finance and I know how to follow the money. There is big money in perpetuating this myth and that's why it is touted sometimes at high levels.

One of my clients is a professor of Space Architecture a the University of Houston, a city strongly associated with NASA. He routinely publishes in Forbes magazine about what a fraud and hoax the whole thing is and his words are better than mine when it comes to the long discussion. Larry Bell, University of Houston and google does the rest.

I will just reiterate as i did around my quoted language above that global warming has all of the hallmarks of a religion, and that I tend to find that those who believe in it have a dogmatic zeal that makes discussing with them a fool's errand. They are effectively (attributed to) Stalin's useful idiots. useful to those who use the movement to expand government controls over people's lives and who want to cash in on it.

Here is the latest follow the money article whose author was kind enough to summarise apocalyptic prophecies made over the years. A little history goes a long way my friends.

So yes, I'll listen to Professor Bell thank you. Meanwhile, global warming leftists can continue to listen to geniuses like Congressman Hank Johnson who said Guam would tip over and capsize when too many people were put on one side of it.

Whilst there's no big money in fossil fuels? Zzzzzzzzzzzz

Non sequitur.

It sequits. I bet the oil companies wouldn't be happy with a radical reduction in car journeys.

You lost me at ZeroHedge. If he'd actually been putting his money where he says the world is going he wouldn't be able to afford to publish his stuff. I like reading it but I know it's 90% baloney.

A couple of my friends are professors of Psychology and specialise in conspiracy theories. They can't do any research into climate denial conspiracy theories because there is some nutjob in Canada who uses the government's FOI laws to effectively turn their students into his employees.

Global warming may have all the hallmarks of of a religion but that doesn't make it one. The rise in temperatures and carbon in the atmosphere is very correlated to economic activity. It's even reverse correlated to the number of pirates in the world!

Yes google does the rest. Larry Bell-Professor of Architecture at the University of Houston. AIAA, ASCE. Registered Architect and urban planner. Master of Fine Arts, University of Illinois. Bachelor of Architecture, University of Illinois.

Larry Bell -famous climate change denier and architect. "While Larry Bell authors articles in the media denying man-made climate change, he has not published any articles in peer-reviewed journals on the subject of climate. "

“I never really call myself a 'scientist.'  I’m certainly a researcher, and I certainly write a lot of technical stuff, but, as I make very clear in the preface of my book, I'm not a climate scientist, and I never played one in the movies… . .there’s probably some effect of human impact on everything in our environment. That doesn’t necessarily make it dangerous—and doesn’t even, necessarily, make it bad.” Larry Bell. 2011.

Yes Larry Bells words are so much more reliable than the mass of scientific research from around the world by qualified scientists who have spent their life studying this subject, who have published their work in peer reviewed journals and have the data to back it up.

All that article says is that Obama tasked NASA with three things: 'reinspiring' children's interest in science; expanding international relations; engaging with 'predominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering'.  Which of those is not reliable and/or the work of a tin-pot dictator?

Larry Bell isn't a climate scientists, so why would anyone listen to him?  Forbes magazine isn't a science journal, so why would anyone take anything published in there any more seriously than they would an article in the Daily Mail?

Of course it is entirely possible that the millions of items of data used by many thousands of individuals and institutions across the world have been falsified and that some one is directing these many thousands of individuals and institutions to reach false conclusions in order to support the aims you have mentioned. It's also entirely possible that that is not the case.

A commentator said this week that Donald Trump is rather like a cushion, his views are from whoever last made an impression on him.

That well known tin pot climate change denier BP - oh, hang on, what's this:

Taking action on climate change
Working with others, BP can help drive the transition to a lower carbon future. We want to bring down our greenhouse gas emissions - while supplying the affordable energy the world needs
