This is a festival to celebrate diversity, and to remember times when we have had to resist the threat from racsists, I think this is important at this moment in time, and who knows you might enjoy it.

Its a lovely day, everyone welcome.

I and rather a lot of other Londoners and visitors have something else on that day...

Are we ? Am I missing something ?

The marathon

Good luck

I can't help feeling that debating one (Corbyn) of the many speakers is rather missing the point. There're people of all sorts of political stripes (and none) involved in this free celebration of local diversity tomorrow –with speeches, music, stalls, family picnic area, etc.

It marks 40 years since local people stopped the National Front from marching through our community. As background, there's an interesting write-up of this piece of local history in the Tottenham & Wood Green Journal:

Speakers do indeed include Jeremy Corbyn (who was there 40 years ago), but apparently also Dawn Barnes (LibDems), Bibi Khan (Wightman Rd Mosque), Sue Hughes (Jewish Socialist Group), Matt Wrack (Gen Sec FBU) and representatives of several local communities and unions.

It's on Ducketts Common from Noon.

A lovely afternoon with some rousing speeches and great singing and dancing.

Photos; councillors from the original anti rascist march 40 years ago, Jeremy Corbyn and welcoming appreciation from the audience.
