Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

On Monday 21st Nov at about 2pm I was knocked over while tucking in my wing mirror. My car was parked on Wightman rd near the junction of Allison Rd. I was bashed by the vans wing mirror and then crushed against my car. The van driver stopped and an ambulance was called. If you witnessed this i would appreciate it if you got in touch with me. Also if you were the lovely man who stopped your car who came and held my hand and spoke to me when i was lying on the road in shock and agony I would like to thank you personally.

Lizzie - this sounds really awful. I am very sorry (but did not witness this). I hope you do find people that come forward.

So sorry to hear about this Lizzie, I hope you get some witnesses coming forward. Lovely to hear about the man who helped you. Well done him.

Reading yesterday that 1 in 5 such incidents are now 'hit & run' in London ... ie. the person doesn't stop. Wightman Rd is such a nightmare. Hope you are OK Lizzie.

I witnessed a hit and run on a cyclist a few weeks back. The cyclist was ok, shaken, but his brand new bike was unable to be ridden.  I got a partial plate so I'm really hoping the driver can be identified.

There are cameras on Wightman at two points N & S that if you have the time and a partial plate may help identify the van as it enters or leaves the ladder...

Lizzie, what happened to you is awful, and I hope you are ok now.

It wasn't on Wightman though.

I think I as walking past just as you were being scooped into the ambulance, but sorry I didn't witness the incident itself. Hope you recover quickly.

thanks for all your lovely wishes. Fortunately the van driver did stop but I would still really appreciate any witness testimonies. The irony was I was only on the road as my car that i had aprked there on saturday night had been smashed into on the sunday morning and the police had just popped round to tell me that it was smashed up and the boot of my car was sticking out in the road. I was reparking it, moving it further on to the pavement and then pulling the wing mirror in when my body was struck by the van driver. People drive far too fast round that corner and far too close to the parked cars.

Gosh I'm so sorry to hear that.

I live on wightman at the top of Allison road and it is really scary how fast the majority of traffic comes racing around the corner and how close they come to you. After 3 times of having our car bashed into outside of our house we never park there. It's just too damned dangerous - especially as a pregnant woman trying to get a toddler out of a car seat. Makes me so so cross!

Sounds terrible. Glad you are ok
