Here's the legendary Alfoxton Avenue dump. It's a permanent fixture. It's never clean or cleared out but the bin lorries to stop and empty it from time to time. It was fairly empty this morning but fills up during the day.
Why the council can't agree with the residents to stick a big rubbish bin in one of the car parking spaces? Is it really so difficult to fix this kind of mess ?
Question for everyone: is this kind of dumping acceptable ? Should I just accept that I live in an area where this is the norm ? If so I promise not to mention it again.

Not acceptable at all. I looked on streetview to see where it was and there was a dump there too! Is this from the flats as surely they have their own rubbish system for such a large building and they would generate more than a few bags. If they don't then they need one as you suggest.
I would keep taking the photos and date them, contact your local councillor asap, contact environmental health and not give up!
The ourHaringey admin just closed the report I made this morning. They keep doing this.

I have contacted the Neighbourhood Officer about this and asked him to look at these postings and to follow this up. I will report back.

Thanks. If it's John you are speaking to, he must know about it, given the number of reports I've logged with ourHaringey but probably needs some help getting a solution organised.
I can't see why a big bin plonked in a parking space wouldn't be a solution? Maybe there are no bin lorries to collect these?
There is a notice of £1000 pound fine for anyone caught dumping there but does anyone actually enforce these?
For me as an outsider, the state of the wiring on the building isn't acceptable either - looks pretty dangerous and third world to me. Perhaps you are so used to it, you don't notice anymore.
I do wonder what goes through the minds of the people that leave this litter (if anything).
There's some very dicey wiring adorning some properties on green lanes: the door next to the flooded cafe springs to mind.
Well, if the people who live in the flats are told to leave their rubbish on the pavement, they do. Then the foxes come and trash it (and there are people who go through rubbish bags as well), and it gets spread all over the street. The street cleaners only do main roads once a day, and small roads once a week (if that). I think Haringey Council are hoping that residents just get used to the filth.
