I am looking to deck/cover my roof terrace (11m squared) and for someone to weld the gate back on which leads to the fire escape.
It would be great if someone could recommend a builder or landscape gardener who can do this and I will also need advice on what weight the roof can bear and what materials will be appropriate. If anyone else has done something similar and has any recommendations then I would love to hear from them too.
Many thanks,
Caroline

You definitely need planning for that and you probably won't get it. FPR's advice is good.
Thanks for both your replies. I should have been clearer in my initial post; the roof terrace is an official one and it was part of the deeds of the property when I moved in. It's has a railing and was tiled etc (similar to many others in my road). I would be keen to add bamboo as was suggested for a bit more privacy.
There was a leak last year after I moved in so I had to pull up all the tiles and a roofer recovered the roof with a waterproof base. So now I'm looking to put a further covering on it (since currently it feels a bit like sitting in a car park and it's very warm on a hot day!) and thought decking might be an alternative to tiles.
If anyone can recommend someone who would be able to help with this work it would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks,
Caroline
Francesco might be able to help - he's an architect so will know about load bearing and has been doing gardening and general jobs around the area for the past 6 months. He's reliable, reasonable and trustworthy. If you text me on 07712020886 I can forward your details.
