I think you may need to do a little more work on the Equal Pay Act. You don't seem to have done any homework at all on the issue if you think the police can be called. Although I expect that's your 'choice' whoever you are....
The passion behind some of the comments on this thread is tending towards snappishness at times. Please can we ensure that all comments are couched in the most empathic and sensitive way possible. Thank you.
It's odd that over four pages there has been only one contribution to the debate from a woman ( Lizzie ). Are the others not interested or, more likely, are they being put off by the tone of the contributions from the men ? ( ie Mostly charmless )
I am a woman and have contributed, albeit in an unhelpful manner.
I was following the discussion yesterday and have much to say, but many years of experience have taught me that arguing with people on the internet is largely a waste of time and bad for the blood pressure, particularly when they are so very entrenched in their position. I now prefer to take positive action instead - hence I joined WEP many months ago and will be attending the meeting on 16th Sept.
That's why I said " contribution to the debate "
I don't think you can really "debate" with someone who refers to you as "creatures"! I was beginning to wonder if this was staged by WEP to make the whole borough sign up in droves...
I'm a woman. I posted the info about the meeting in case people were in interested in attending and learning more about WE.
I'm not put off by people who disagree with me and would be happy to discuss any of the issues. But this is not a discussion. It's one person spewing bile all over the thread. He's doing more to highlight the problems than anything I can say.

Why would I even want to spend the time debating with someone so patronising when it was obvious after the first sensible responses to him that it was going to be a road to nowhere. Anyway I am too busy wallpapering the ceiling and looking after my grandchildren to give my time to 'Totally charmless'.
