Plant/Flowers Taking My Garden
Hi all,
I’ve got a bit of random question regarding the flowers/plant shown in the attached photo. It’s a white flower that grows from a vine like structure – a bit like ivy.
We have them all over our front and back garden, including in the hedge. In fact they seem to be taking over!
I’m guessing they’re pretty common around here, but I haven’t seen them before. The flowers are pretty, but I’m just a bit concerned that the plant will continue to take over if left unchecked – and perhaps kill the hedge.
Does anyone know what the plant is and/or any experience dealing with it?

You really have to get on top of it Ian. Our garden was covered in it when we moved in. Don't be tempted to just pull it out, the bits of root left behind just grow again. A few applications of a systemic weed killer would be a good start. If it's really entwined with things you like you can get a weed killer you paint directly onto the leaves of the bindweed, tedious but it does work.

Keep it in check sure but I let it grow up the trees and thru my hedges, it can add a lovely touch to a wild garden look

We have this. I just keep pulling it up as it grows through but it's very persistent!

Growing up they were always called 'Granny pop out of bed' if you squeeze the base of the flower, the whole flower pops out in quite a satisfying way!

You beat me to it, Betty. I was just about to write the same thing. We popped so many grannies out of their beds that I am surprised there are any left.

This stuff is a peril. Most of the soil in the southern most bed on Mattison Road was replaced by the Council earlier this year but some bits of bindweed got left behind and they are impossible to get rid of - I could weed it out every single week and the next week it would all be back.
You can stay on top of it, but I'm not sure how you eradicate it to be honest... If you want to try I've also heard people recommend what Michael suggests (ie painting it on the leaves).
