Enforcement of the Wightman Road area 7.5t weight restriction
I have received this from the project engineer regarding enforcement of the 7.5 t weight restriction.
Do let me know if you think enforcement is not happening and I can chase it up.
“The zones signage has now been upgraded to ensure it complies with current regulations and with the correct signage in place, enforcement of the restriction will be carried out wherever possible. Please note that with the restrictions in place, an exemption provision applies to vehicles who wish to gain access and therefore our enforcement will not eliminate all overweight vehicles, furthermore we cannot enforce this location at all times.
We will use our mobile CCTV enforcement vehicles to capture footage of overweight vehicles entering the restricted zone on Wightman Road. This will then be reviewed and entered into our Penalty Notice processing system and a postal PCN will be issued to the Registered Keeper of non exempt vehicles that fail to comply with the prohibition.”

Anybody have a seismograph app? My house shakes every time a loaded truck goes over the hump outside so I'd be really interested to see what it registers on the Richter scale. We could have a competition for which company causes the greatest shake.

This is good news, but I saw a skip lorry go straight down Hampden Road today with no business on that road and was woken up on Lausanne Road this morning by some large lorry going up Lausanne Road. I doubt any of these companies are going to take any notice given the low chance of being caught. If you weigh up the low probability of fines vs. the time saved it is a no brainer unless there was permanent camera enforcement and/or residents would be able to report offenders.

I'd like to know why Veolia rubbish trucks are hurtling up Cavendish Road early in the morning on days when they are not collecting rubbish from our street. One on Saturday morning, two this morning (Weds), all between about 6am and 7.15am. I have emailed them to ask.
Cavendish Road is sounding like a race track in the mornings at the moment - its not just Veolia but Papa Johns trucks (small-ish so going even faster) and many other "ordinary" cars, vans and motorbikes.
When can the speed limit be enforced too??????

Ah, now the speed limit being enforced is a whole other story. We'll be making progress if we get the 7.5t at least partially enforced. I'd love to see our councillors getting behind a speed enforcement campaign. Karen.....anyone?

How about trying to make traffic slow down by putting something in the middle of the road like has been done in Linden Rd? Just need a really big pot and a tree to plant and a whole lot of soil, which would make it too heavy for most people to nick. Instead of gorilla gardening do gorilla traffic calming, or diy diy streets
