Estate Agent Hoarding on HoL: post here without delay!
Concerned about commercial plugs on HoL? Frustrated at waiting for an estate agent to vet your views on the subject of estate agent hoardings?
Post here now on the no-delay, uncensored new thread! (subject of course, to overall HoL moderation). Here is at least one post that has yet to be approved by Steve on the blog he moderates:

Steve, some of us on HoL are a bit slow and deaf and some folk (probably Alan) may have missed your earlier messages.
I'm sure you can understand that none of us would want to feel we are talking to a low-class estate agent with a below average reputation, particularly on the subject of estate agent boards.
Therefore, can you please either confirm or re-confirm:
Experience: how many years have you been valuing properties over a wide area?
Is your agency part of a London-wide chain with agencies in other Boroughs as well?
Are you a director of an estate agency?
Are you a hard-working estate agent with Saturday your busiest day?
Could the mobile number you've provided also be used to arrange new listings? ;-)
Is it possible to give an upbeat assessment of the state of the property market in order to boost commissions please? %-)
Do you believe that enterprising estate agents should seek out new media in which to achieve exposure, including media of varying appropriateness?
If you're a good boy about estate agents hoardings and, as you say, you have no influence over your competitors behaviour, is there much point to this conversation (apart from the plugs)?

Not all estate agents are crooks: there are bound to be honest ones. I personally had no problems with Ferme Park Sales in the single property transaction of my life, when I bought my flat through them many years ago. Therefore I have no personal axe to grind.
Later however, as some long-time residents might recall, that same firm broke up when I seem to remember someone was done for fraud and a solicitor was also prosecuted. One or more persons were sentenced to prison.
Fortunately, this level of fraud in estate agents is rare. -

Well put Birdy. If a local business is prepared to engage with HOL, and to encourage dialogue about some of the issues that so many on HOL complain about, it should be encouraged (regardless of their motives). Setting up alternative discussions solely for the purpose of encouraging members to abuse someone shames the sense of community that HOL is intended to foster.

Agree with Bushy and B2.
Not long ago we were discussing whether to run advertising to help fund the website. A moral point here - would we refuse advertising from estate agents ? If so, why ?
Personally, I welcome Steve's input and I'm mature enough to tune out the castellations.
Actually, I think I'm mature enough to detect that Clive's tongue may have been in close proximity to his cheek when he posted -

This post seems to have little purpose but attack Steve and his motivations for posting on the site (and to do so very unpleasantly) so I'm reluctantly closing it. The blog that Steve has started is here, though note that replies to it are moderated by Steve (this is a feature of the blogs system and doesn't apply to ordinary HOL discussions).
As Birdy2 says, HOL is about building bridges rather than blowing them up. -
