Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

i recently discovered this vast place up at Crews Hill.  It seems to grow a lot of what it sells (especially fruit and veg plants) and I think it supplies a lot of other places so you get some real seasonal bargains.  I recently got 4 two meter golden bamboo for £70 the lot rather than £80 per plant I saw in several other places.  Also nabbed 6 veg plants (2 varieties of tomatoes, aubergine, squash, runner beans and peppers) for a fiver.  Expensive hardy tropical plants like Dicksonia Antarctica were a good deal too as were bedding plants.

You have to become a member to buy (£5) and they do delivery at around £30 to Harringay so worth it for big purchases.  The one downside for some is that the nearest public transport is Crews Hill station and then a 30 minute walk.

We love it. Have saved so much money going there instead of the gardening centre at ally pally. At the end of last summer it was 50% off everything!

A real bargain would be Harringay Gardening Club exchange, I have some white Agapanthus and New Zealand Flax I need to divide. Those interested in investing time in their front gardens, (without the expense,) we could divide and help to get started. Like Monty Don says, ‘the time we put in now, we’ll reap the reward later.’ It will look great and we all benefit from the outcome. Something for our RA’s (resident associations,) to consider expanding on.

Me too. We have a lot of spare multipurpose compost from having a re-arrange of the many containers in our garden, and quite a few spare containers too. Plus also an enormous potted camellia that we don't really have a spot for.

Yes, I'd be interested too - we have quite a few self-seeded Fatsia Japonica in our garden and Pheasant Berry Shrubs - we have at least two of each and have planted some in our daughter's garden too - so I pot them up when they are a fair size and would be happy to give them to a good home!  The are very tolerant of London clay and hardy.
