Good to hear they are being sensible and doing the gas main replacement on Wightman at the same time (although I feel a bit sorry for the residents who will lose their precious moments of peace.)

Such moments of sensible coordination are rare and to be treasured Maddy
As a WR resident I am delighted to hear about the gas main work. We have been troubled for years by holes being dug allegedly to fix minor leaks. There been at least ten such events within 20 yards of my door within the last five years. We have learned along the way that the company's records of what lies under the road can be out of date. My prayer is that they do the job properly. Three gas mains pass my house. A low pressure one under each pavement and a medium pressure one under the carriageway. So far as I know, the available techniques do not reliably show even which is leaking let alone the exact location of the leak. When passers-by detect a whiff of gas it has usually found its way into the telephone cable ducts and emerged around the covers of a BT footway box. Let us hope that installing nice new pipes will solve e the problem. It would not be surprising to learn that these leaks are partly the result of heavy traffic on the road and parking on the pavements.
