Hi all,
Wonder if anyone would be willing to share general impressions about the Tottenham & Wood Green Independent as a news outlet?
Open-ended question, so whatever you might feel about them - political leanings, independence, reliability etc.
I don't have a view myself and don't intend to start a debate so please DM me if you would prefer that.
Thanks!

It's not a newspaper. It's cheap advertising material (hookers and tat which is probably stolen) with a front page and a story about Spurs written by a 12 year old on the back. There is never any journalistic content.
But it could be good. If they set about dedicating the first dozen pages to actual journalism about local event and issues people would read it, they'd be able to charge more for advertising and pay for more quality content. There is no other forum, except perhaps this website, for local issues to be discussed. There are numerous stories to be written about local crime, council scandals, environmental issues, green spaces, gardening, hobby clubs, childrens services, hospitals, interesting local characters, local history and sporting teams. And on those sporting teams it's not just Spurs. There is 'aringey Borough, Rhinos, golf, Gaelic Football, rugby boxing, fencing, athletics and running etc etc etc.
There's a gap in the market.
It would be more interesting to talk about the Tottenham Community Press which is a real community paper that doesn't depend on advertising.
The Tottenham Community Press is proving more and more valuable as a local community resource to replace the much missed Hornsey Journal. The Ham and High doesn't really acknowledge that Wood Green and Tottenham exist..[not enough readers to buy expensive houses]
As someone who has volunteered to deliver the TCP during the pandemic you took the words right out of my mouth.
Definitely worth a look and supporting if you haven't already and perhaps volunteer to deliver in your area.
Tottenham Community Press - An independent, community-led newspaper...
I think you have to see it for what it is.
A FREE spreadsheet so that it makes it money/livelihood from selling ad space - so if it really printed anything that upset the big spenders (is that the local council? or a big multinational football club cum property developer-speculator, et al) it would "suffer".
I rememebr when I was part of a local 'Save the XXX' campaign, that the stories written by TWGI were not very investigative nor TOO informative.
You get what you pay for! Who pays the TWGI?
