I was in Yasha around 5:30 or so and a large immigration raid was ongoing, with the shop being closed as shoppers finished up and left while the raid continued. Lots of immigration officers asking folks for (I imagine) details and papers.
First time I have seen anything like this of this scale here or elsewhere to be honest, 3 van loads of officers involved my wife said when she got home.

That job has been outsourced to consumers.
Well did they catch anyone or was it just a waste of time tip-off by a jealous competitor?
I have no idea. I saw a couple of the enforcement folks as they were mopping up but I did not have the nerve to ask them.
To be honest, I felt a bit bad for all involved, the workers in Yasa and the enforcement folks. I cannot imagine the enforcement officer have a great time- its not like people are pleased to see them is it? I cannot imagine how you end up choosing that as a career.
It's an important job and someone has to do it. Done right, I'd imagine it's even rewarding.
But I'm not convinced that most raids happen for the right reasons...
It would be a difficult job with its ups and downs very much like that of a police officer.
Now you've confused me, Osbawn. Does "It" refer to (a) rescue work; (b) work for gang masters; or (c) prostitution ?
......all of that and we don't even know if any of the Yasar workers who have served us over the last 37 years have done anything at all.
It could have resulted from a malicious call, it could even be related to the mischief caused by a certain self promoting Nazi outside Sainsburys and the Kurdish centre a couple of weeks ago; but lets not wait for any evidence, far better to jump in with big boots and an anti immigration manifesto.

Yup, it was all getting a little unsavoury and off-topic.
Tommy Robinson is a nazi? Do you have evidence to back this up or is it just slander on your part? Also, seven masked thugs against one unarmed man and woman, it's pretty clear who the fascist thugs were on this occasion...
A former Harringay ward councillor Ron Blanchard was proud of his Huguenot origin. But as the Huguenot Society points out: "they could not entirely escape the accusations levelled at immigrants from time immemorial -that their presence threatened jobs, standards of housing, public order, morality and hygiene and even that they ate strange foods!"
For people interested in background material on the general topic of migration and "border control" can I mention two recent blog articles I found interesting.
Luke de Noronha: "Race, class and Brexit: thinking from detention".
Gracie Mae Bradley: "A Logic of Dehumanisation"
A recent book by Nisha Kapoor: "Deport, Deprive, Extradite"
And from 2017, a beautiful graphic book by cartoonist Kate Evans: Threads from the Refugee Crisis
is her personal report from the Calais "Jungle".
These are all from the the publishers Verso. The two blogs are free to download. Please note that apart from having an account as a paying customer of Verso, I've no connection with them.
Without such restrictions the likes of Ahmed Hassan and Yahyah Farroukh would be just the tip of the iceberg. It seems those who obsess about this seem to overlook the potential consequences.
