Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Back in 2012, I organised a group of locals clubbed together on HoL to buy an old map of part of the Harringay Ladder as the area was being developed. We won the auction on eBay and were able to donate the map to Bruce Castle Museum.

Before giving it away, I had an archival quality copy made by the London Metropolitan Archives. They also printed us some copies on archival quality map paper. A number of the original purchasers got a copy along with a few other locals.

In the ensuing few years I've had a number of people ask if they can get a copy. I've been dragging my feet getting it organised, but I'm now putting out this feeler to see if there's enough interest to get the LMA to do another run.

The LMA did a fantastic job last tiime round. They preserved the character and feel of the map and rendered the detail splendidly.

If you're interested in getting a copy for your wall, we can get them done at the same price as last time which was £95 for the half actual size, (37" x 25" approx) and £145 for the full size version (54" x 37" approx).

Please drop me a note at hugh@harringayonline and if there's enough interest I'll organise another run.

Yes from what I remember the text is legible at the smaller size. I can check with a previosu purchaser if you like. And the folds are definitely visible; for most buyers that has been part of the charm. They do look really good.

Hi Hugh - if you could check about the legibility on the smaller size map that would be really helpful.  Thanks!

I've asked someone who bought a half-size map last time around and also sent you a screenshot showing the approximate size (of course you will need to view it at 100%).
Hi Hugh, could you send me the screenshot of the half size too please. Thank you.

Hi Hugh - could I get a screenshot to get a clearer idea of what's on the map too?! Is hampden on?

Not on this map no. It's just the southern half of the Ladder. You can see how far north it goes in the main picture (if you click the picture it'll open slightly clearer in a new window). Still a great map - but not if you want Hampden!

I have a half sized on and everything is legible. If anyone wants to come see one you are welcome to pop over and see mine. The large one was just too big sadly! Message me if you want to pop over.

I also got a frame from Ikea that with a bit of effort works well, cheap too in comparison to the professional frames I was getting quotes for.

Thanks Justin.

I got one of these last time (half size) and just wanted to say they are great.

There is an added mystery too if you live on Seymour or Hewitt because, though Seymour Rd is clearly visible, it is labelled Hewitt. I always wonder if it was a mistake or if they squeezed an extra road in somewhere and then renamed some.
Hi Hugh, thanks for organising this! I really like historical maps. I would like a smaller one please. Just so that I can picture the timing of expenditure, when do you think you will be ordering and when do you expect to receive the goods? Do you collect money first or later?

I've emailed you, Kotoko.

Hi Hugh please can I order a small one. Tks jp
