Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

After having great difficulty walking down the street - particularly crossing a side street which really was like a skating rink - I decided to stay 'holed up' until the ice melts.

I have brittle bone disease so fractures are especially likely if I fall. It's very frustrating to be stuck in ....

Fine for town centres to be gritted but if one can't reach a town centre it's not very helpful!! I'd like more priority given to pedestrians.

I would call the council and inform them of your issue - they have a 24 hour emergency service that can pass messages on to the gritters (if they want to) 020 8489 0000
Hi Jenny, are you far from a gritted pavement / road, if not too far would it be possible for a couple of volunteers to clear a path and throw down some sand so you can get out?
if not do you need supplies?
Hi Maggie
I'm a bit too far from Green Lanes for clearing a path.
It's really kind of you to ask if I need supplies. I do appreciate it. Thanks very much.
I'm okay as when the snow was forecast I stocked up & have a neighbour who has offered to shop for me.
I am fit & have cleared my own front path - just don't want to risk falling!

The Snow Patrol today cleared a whole lot of snow - so we might be able to help you too. If your luck's really in you're on one of the roads that got a thorough clearing today.

If you can post which road then perhaps people can come help - the good folks here really are wonderful.
Thanks Malcolm. I live on the south side of Stanhope Gardens. Crossing Doncaster Gardens was the most treacherous bit. It may be better by now!
Jenny I will be more than happy to stop by tomorrow (if you want me to) and do my best to clear a path for you regardless of which road you are in.

Thanks very much Malcolm. Its really kind of you. Fortunately the thaw seems to be starting!
Jenny, I suffer from a slight difficulty in walking and a bad sense of balance and have had to contend with either a skating rink or a sheet of black ice outside my house at the bottom of Salisbury Rd for the last few weeks because of no gritting in the area. However I have invested in a pair of Get-A- Grip Everyday Traction Aids which fit over the soles of your shoes. They have tungsten carbide spikes which grip suberbly. I have been out and about every day without slipping or even feeling as though I was going to. They cost £19.99 but I think they were cheaper before the demand set in. I learnt about them when I was in Germany on holiday at New Year. Contact www.skiweb.uk.com or www.DueNorthProducts.com and they can be bought from Amazon Warehouse.
Thanks!
