The date has been pushed out twice already, this is the 3rd fault in the last 2 weeks.  I've been complaining at them on Twitter.

I have cancelled my virgin account, and signed up with BT, who will pay your cancellation fee for virgin if you swap. I would encourage everyone to do the same, the virgin line was down for 10 days last time.

And your download/upload speeds are?

55-ish

That's very impressive for a phone line but the speeds can be incredibly variable depending on the quality of the copper loop into your router.

We moved to Zen a couple of years ago -   75 down, 19 up - is very typical. Drops are rare but will be seconds/minutes.  There has been no significant outage.

It is more expensive, though. I got fed up with virgin.

To be honest, how fast it is is not really a worry for me, I don't do much on the net, but Virgin are incapable of maintaining a service, it's been a week for me now.
When I cancelled the virgin contract they said 'bear in mind that BT is not as fast'
That doesn't really help me when you cannot make my service work at all. I also spent 40 minutes on the phone with virgin before they hung up on me. Truly the worst company I ever dealt with, and I'm a procurement manager!!!
What deal did you go with Ash? And what does the price go up to after the 12/13 month intro period (assuming that's part of it)?

I'm on Effingham Road. Same issues. Twitter / Facebook are great (just need to get the message out broadly that VM are useless), but call them and ask for compensation. And then change. Will let you know if they agree to release me from the contract.

I think there are a few different Virgin Media areas within Harringay. I get consistent 150Mbps pretty much all the time and probably suffer an outage every couple of years if that. Others in the area seem to have terrible service.

On the other hand, there are also different alternatives in the area. Where I am there is no BT fibre which basically means Virgin is the only option for anything faster than ~10Mbps. Others seem to be able to get high speed fibre to cabinet but, according to BT, it's been "coming soon" to me for the past 5 years.

I spoke to 4 people from VM for over an hour. This outage is affecting between 500 and 3500 homes (according to the tech guy). I argued and got about 50% refund for May. Given I have roughly 7 weeks left on contract, I put in my disconnection notice. They wouldn't give any more compensation. It was really painful.

Back up since midnight last night, however the fault is still open.  The latest update puts the fix out until 9th:
