Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Anyone else see a partridge just outside Harringay Station this morning?!?!

Guess it must be the new bird about town. Another sighting reported here.

For years there has been a regular sighting of pheasants and partridges around railway fields,as I back onto the railway line I always thought they came along the railway,however there were several local Cypriot families who kept small fowl at the time(we have been here 30 years).Perhaps when these families moved(many to Enfield)some of the birds remained.

We've had a pheasant in our garden, we back onto Railway Fields.  It looked so out of place due to the sheer size of it.  I had a nice Sunday roast planned but it managed to evade me.

Same when we moved to Warham back in the early eighties - the house at the back kept a few quail or partridge (you could hear them peeping gently) for barbecuing in the summer. Suppose there could be escapees who have met up, bit like the Finsbury Park parakeets.

This is a peasant. There are loads of them in Harringay.

It's not a pheasant, much more like a red legged partridge. Check out the rspb website and you can see the difference here
