Tags for Forum Posts: Harringay's churches, St Augustine's Church
Just came across this by chance. I wasn't aware as I no longer live in the area. I am absolutely astonished that this church is no longer in use as the congregation back in the 1970s was quite healthy. Was there a particular reason why the Catholic church vacated it or was it simply a fall in numbers?
Surprised no one has answered this. This church I believe as been purchased by the Catholic Church. It is run by Catholic Workers, a group of radical passivists who use part of it to provide lodgings for homeless people and supply breakfast and evening meals to same. The church is used for services and prayer for the workers and others. The interior is in the round and quite lovely.
Thanks for that.
Yes indeed Philip - some of the most radically active passivists in Harringay or Haringey.
Not to be confused with the Harringay Passagists.
