Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone recognise this cat?  He visits twice or three times daily, is very nervous, sleeps in the garden sometimes.  I am on Warham Road with our garden backing on the Pemberton Road gardens.

Yes he visits my garden too, he's a bit of a bruiser and picks fights with some smaller resident cats.

And not much you can do according to this website  as apparently a cat cannot, in law, trespass and "its owner cannot be legally responsible for what their cat does outside of their property".

Our neutered cat is getting old and has badly lost two recent fights with a young tom who is expanding his territory into our garden,  leading to me shelling out £130 to the vet for two visits.

Oh I don't want to do anything about it.  I like the cat and feel sorry for him.  Just wondering if anyone owns him.

Eugene, sorry to hear about the cat fight injuries. If the cat isn't neutered, maybe try to find the owner to advise them that neutering is vital. If no owner or the cat is lost or stray, Stokey Cats and Dogs are a good source of help. There are useful tips on their website. It makes sense to get a cat helped and neutered to avoid more injuries.

Hi Justine, I don't think it's a stray - it's young and looks sleek and healthy. Our gardens back onto the next roads gardens so it's not easy to ID his owners. Yesterday he chased our cat into our kitchen, only retreating when he realised I was there. Our cat is neutered, don't know about the young tom.

Oh my what a lovely cat! Could you put a collar on him and attach a small note asking if anyone owns him?

If you establish he isn't owned by anyone are you able to care for him? Even if you can't have him in your house could you perhaps get a small outdoor shelter? And put out food and water a couple of times a day? Is he neutered? If not some charities will do this for free which might stop him being a bruiser, obviously should find out if he is owned first.
Hi, he looks like an owned cat, he has a good coat. I think your garden might be part of his territory. He looks a lovely cat. You are so lucky that he chooses to visit!
He looks very like the cat who used to hang out in my garden a few years ago on mattison road, much to my cats disgust.
I was worried as he was also quite vocal, but turned out he had loving owners on wareham road, who had neutered him, and could not believe he was wandering so much

If you find an owner on here (maybe Tigha can put you in touch with the person she thinks might be the owner) or by flyers or scanning for microchip - the best advice to give an owner is to make sure their cat is neutered and microchipped. Also rescue places advise that a cat needs a cat flap otherwise a cat will wander if they are stuck outside when owner is out. They also recommend locking the cat flap at night so that cats are safe inside at night as it reduces the risk of them getting lost or injured. In addition to microchipping, these safety personalised collars are also handy as an owner can get their phone number printed on the cat's collar - making it easy for neighbours to see a contact number.

(If anyone finds a cat which isn't neutered and microchipped, and if no owner or the cat is lost or stray, Stokey Cats and Dogs  are a good source of help. There are useful tips on their website. It makes sense to get a cat helped and neutered).

Comes into our garden too (Warham). Very chatty.
