Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi, my neighbour who lives above me on Kitchener road (off Philip lane) had her rose bush stolen from outside the front door late last week or early this week. It's a lovely pink climber. If anyone has seen one pop up in someone's garden in the same time period then please let me know! Also watch out as there are thieves about who will obviously steal anything that isn't nailed down! I know we're in hard times but stealing a retired persons plant....COME ON!!

your right Natalie, how can you enjoy something so beautiful knowing that you have taken it away from someone else. Its disgusting. And happens quite a lot I believe

We're doing up a place on Stanmore Road and a few months ago (we weren't in but the builders saw) a woman without a care in the world, parked up and started putting our pot plants in her boot. The builder ran downstairs and shouted to her but she jumped in the car and sped off. Who does that?

Obviously someone who has a very good strategy for stealing plants! must be some money in it! cant believe she had the front to park up in her car and nick them in broad daylight! prob the same woman who stole my neighbours....YES pots and plant are expensive but come on!!! stealing from others gardens its soo wrong!

A good plant in a nice pot will fetch a tidy sum at a car boot sale.
I hope your neighbour will keep gardening at the front of the house despite this setback. It is very frustrating and disheartening when it happens. I've had people damage plants and some theft.

Anything that is easily named like geraniums or lavender is often taken. These days we plant things that self seed (red valerian), are useless if you pull them up (lots of bedding plants fall into this category) or are common as the muck they stand in like calendula, wallflowers, or hollyhocks. Also don't be tempted into posh pots at the front, I grow in old buckets and bowls which don't sell so well at the car boot.

It won't stop entirely (someone stole all six of my alliums out of my window box - cut them for a vase I suspect) but I've lost a lot less in our street garden/my front garden since I've changed tactics.

Every year without fail, at least one person helps themselves to the lilac bush in the front garden when it is in full bloom. It's one thing if the flowers are over hanging onto the street but it's when they actually come in with a pair of scissors or secateurs that I get really annoyed.

This year it was a hipster beardy type - in a car!

Unbelievable!!

Seems to happen a lot - this on Dongola rd last year
