Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

My wife went there today and heard the news. Everything 30% off, the store closes tomorrow (Sunday). Sad news, I think.

Yes just been in there, they are emptying the shelves.  30% of everything so bound to be some bargains!

What with this and Disney's, we have two major spots up or grabs. I know that the local traders are eyeing both very keenly. Whatever happens I hope we will see businesses that work for local people.

Yayyyyyy another kebab hangar?

The one opp the Maplins electronic store, nr Turnpike Lane. It's above the High st on 2 floors I think ... absolutely massive, nothing like it seen in the area before and that includes Harringay.

Sad to hear that it's closing. I liked the shop, and the people running it seemed very pleasant. Mind you, I still miss Fairline (fantastic fruit and vegetable shop that occupied the premises before Arista).

Sad news indeed. Used this supermarket pretty much everyday. A shame to see an independent shop close down.

I always look at the bizarre photo collage of raw mince and a bottle of JD when I am stuck in traffic. It seemed to stock a lot of the same stuff as the other supermarkets on GL so I am not too sad to see it go tbh. Fingers crossed for a whole foods or a huge branch of gail's bakery.

LOL! Where do you think this is?! Gail's bakery indeed!

Never saw the attraction of the place... Ridiculously expensive "lifestyle brand" chain store. Their stuff's not even that good (other than the brownies).

You already can buy wholefoods the length and breadth of Green Lanes, they're just not in little wrappers with labels on saying "wholefoods" and costing double the price.

I'd like to see another store similar to Halim's that sells everything, but with a bit more emphasis on service and presentation. I like Halim's but it would be good to have a bit of competition to keep them on their toes.

Or an M&S!

Or a Wetherspoons again!!!

OK fine a Waitrose then

Hilarious!
Something other than a food retailer would be good, got plenty of places to buy cheap fruit and veg.
I'd love a really good card, wrapping paper and arty gift shop then I would be making no more trips to treehouse in crouch end (though i love that couple!) and spending all my money on the strip!! Whatever it is I hope it's independently run, mind if the arena sainsburys is shutting in 2020 for housing development we could end up with a sainsburys local. In which case I'd prefer a branch of topshop please!
