Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

So today we were digging in the garden and discovered this strange metal box buried abut 20cm down. We have absolutely no idea what it is and were hoping the good people of Harringay could shed some light. Photo attached. We don't think it's treasure unfortunately.

In the old days with coin gas meters thieves (or desperate residents) would smash the lock and take the cashbox. Possible hidden evidence?
Lord Lucan?

Wish my gardening was as fun!

When we first moved into our house we found, carefully hidden behind the water tank in the loft, a packet of 5 Woodbines and a 1950s "Glamour" magazine.

I've given up smoking, but do you still have the magazine ?

We threw it out as it was - ahem - well thumbed.

Vintage! would have been worth a few bob!

It's about the size and shape of an old telephone kiosk cash box, the original lock has been broken or burn out. Looks like one of the previous tenants was a bit dodgy and buried the evidence, you might find some more.

Toilet cystern water tank - do you all feel silly now ?

for a doll's house?

We found a 3-litre bottle of St Erlin Blonde Belgian beer buried in our garden. We opened it at a Christmas party, and it was not really drinkable. Now it functions as a garden ashtray.
