Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I'm not sure if it's something that's particular to my road, but from about six months ago, we've gone from a situation where I could always find a parking space outside my house (which always made me feel very lucky) to one that I assume is more typical of London. It's started getting more and more difficult to find a parking space nearby and sometimes not even in our road.

Am I just a spoilt brat or have other people noticed any increased pressure on parking on the Ladder of late? I accept that this is life in London, but it's just not clear to me why there's been such a rapid turnaround.

Local demand as well - the consultation came out two to one in favour of reducing the hours to the current level. Cost saving indeed - only Wood Green Inner is still 08.00-2200. Also most newer CPZs are a two-hour slot during the day, so wardens can cover 4 or 5 zones in one shift by moving around.

Ha ha, of course the consultation came out in favour of REDUCING TAXES. I think the only hours that the CPZ needs to operate are 18:00 to 23:00 and perhaps 06:00 to 10:00 (great for shoppers!).

Making the CPZ run later will be self financing as the residents currently not obliged to get a CPZ pass because they are away with their cars for enough of the day will have to get one. There will be an enforcement cost but that was the original idea...

It seems cLear to me that the operating times of the CPZ are relevant because I find only Sundays are really tricky. I've never not found a space in my own road.

Shades of the late 60s then...

Yes, we have seen the same thing happen on Beresford Road not sure why there has been this sudden change.  I was completely against extended hours and Sunday permit parking but I now think it might be a good idea.  Sunday is always a disaster and we try not to move the car as we never get a parking space!

Maybe the CPZ hours are upside down. Think about when people who live in the area mainly (though of course not all) need to return home and park and that's after 4pm.
Would a CPZ work better if it was operational say 4pm through to 10am the next day on weekdays? That way it could stop commuter parking (parking up to get to work from Harringay and Harringay Green Lanes stations) and mean less hassle for businesses who need to get to premises in the area, like builders, utility companies, deliveries and so on who are mainly working in the morning and afternoon.

That would be a really good idea.  They do that in Crouch End (early morning to 11am) in some streets and it seems to work
