This is shocking. The police have suggested that the victim may not have been the intended victim.

If so, then it could have been any one of us, which makes it even more reckless and frightening. Erdogan (Eddie) Guzel was a husband and father. I wish the police every luck in finding the killer responsible.

Clive.

I'm not sure that shooting the wrong person is worse than shooting the intended one. That seems to imply that the intended victim in some measure deserved to be shot

Nobody should be shot.

That seems to imply that the intended victim in some measure deserved to be shot

That is not the implication, not even remotely.

I agree, that seems to be the implication.
I'd say that (usually) for something to escalate to murder it would imply the other party had done something to upset the murderer. Now considering automatic weapons were used one could, i think fairly, presume that the intended target has some connection to this world/lifestyle. If that's the case then they're more likely than the average citizen to partake themselves in illegal acts, including acts of extreme violence. Following that thought I'd say it's better the real target was hit than an innocent bystander.
Wild assumption! You can't imply that an intended victim of murder is guilty of a crime. It's just absurd.
I wouldn't say wild assumption - from what's been reported, the levels of violence and the weapons used seems to indicated organised/gang crime - you don't generally become a target in such a way without having upset them badly/being in opposition. As the intended target doesn't seem to be any form of law enforcement or other legal opposition the only other real answer is business/gang rivalry. I don't see this as a far stretched explaination.

If you have any other more valid reasons why someone would be targeted with an automatic weapon, please do share as I'd be curious as to what they may be.
I think it's best to wait until the investigation before throwing around such comments. I recall a story in recent years about a family in Londo who were eating dinner, a child sitting with them was being treated harshly. Another customer asked the child if he was OK. Now, the father of the child walked out of the restaurant, came back and shot the concerned customer dead because he felt undermined by someone looking out for his kid. He upset a murderer....

The police have suggested or confirmed? these things are actually very important.

My thoughts are with the victims of this crime and their families. It doesn't make me feel less safe about being in Wood Green. Attacks like this are very unusual.

Thank you for sharing.
