I have a friend who just laid his own patio- I saw his handy work a few days ago. Not sure if he might have a look, but I will ask and pass on a link to this thread.

Dave O'Doherty laid our patio which is a very heavy slate and required a solid base/foundation  - quotes I had from other builders would no doubt have resulted in the patio lifting by now! Dave also supplied me with a great plasterer so it would be worth asking him. He can be contacted on 07830119421.
