Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I know this is being discussed in another current thread, but can we have a dedicated thread for the new fish and chip shop opening on Green Lanes near Harringay Green Lanes station? Yes, we can. Not least because it looks quite big and interesting, eg, restaurant and takeaway.

Pav I am stealing your photo from today. Hope you don't mind.

Toffs in Muswell Hill - not worth the trip (IMHO)

George's - OK (ditto)

Priory Fish Bar - OK (ditto)

New one that might be called Hashtag Fish and Chips - fish fingers crossed that it's excellent.

I really am quite excited.

easily th best fish and chips I've ever tasted were in the shack on the beach at Dunwich in East Anglia

Hope it was The Magpie you went to in Whitby. Possible the best fish and chips I've ever had - and I'm from up north (even further north than Whitby). Agree about Fryers Delight. It was my regular when I worked in Holborn.

No, it was The Quayside chippy just a bit further along. Will try the Magpie next time we are in Whitby. The hashtag has a lot to live up to as we all have great expectations....

If they still do it have the apple pie and Wensleydale cheese. Sounds odd but tastes fantastic.

I had fish and chips in Bermagui on my travels last year, they were good, very good, but Whitby still ahead by a chip for my money.

any mediocre Glasgow chippy is better than any chippy south of the border. It's the leaving the skin on the fish. Ruins the whole thing. And there's never any curry sauce.

Curry sauce? Mushy peas!
I thought was where you went to buy slightly risqué lingerie.
Are you local Artex?!?

George's has curry sauce!
The family who ran Andreas Fish & Chips shop, took over the Chinese across the road. George's fish bar was great when it was run by George a really nice man who was there fir years. His fish was fresh and he fried nice chips. Sadly the people who run it now have kept his awards but not his standards. Maybe because they don't just sell fish& chips anymore and have taken their eyes off the ball?

George's in Hornsey, opposite the Cop Shop is my favourite. Always cooked fresh with the skin orf. One of the oldest fish and chip shops in London, apparently.

All those haters of the name - it's obviously done the trick as you are all talking about it!
The guy I saw working there this evening said it opens this coming Tuesday, so all your quality concerns will be answered then ...
