Ages ago there were pictures i
on this site taken inside a bar by Hugh I think of a bar/cafe being built. It was made of stuff taken from another building and looked great. I had thought it was on Green Lanes and ever since have looked out for it but cannot even see where it may be. Since then I have heard and seen nothing, did I imagine it or has it gone out of business before it ever started. Even so where was it to begin with the inside looked fantastic recycling in the way it should be an interior that was on its way to be recycling art. it was somebody who had a similar business in Islington or one of the posho places. Can any one tall me any thing? Hilary

Hilary - are you thinking of Jam in a Jar? In which case it did open between Beresford and Effingham?
I've often wondered too what happened. I had Haldun's number at one point. I think it may have perished in one of my office tidying blitzes, but I'll see if I can dig it out and track him down.
Great news. How efficient was I this time round! I found Haldun's number on my phone and I just got off the phone with him.
Things are sounding better and better. It sounds like lots of work has quietly been going on. Haldun's spending a fortune on making this building absolutely amazing. Even the outside is to be done to return it to its heritage self (without any of the GLA funding). I'm so impressed by what he told me, but I'll wait to share till I have the full picture......and even some full pictures.
Opening is due in the Spring 2014. Originally it was to be Spring 2013, for Haldun's 50th. He just told me that instead "It's going to be for my 51st.....no not going to be, MUST be".
I'm relieved to hear this. I'd half assumed the project had faltered. Thanks for making me pick up the phone, Hilary.
Thanks Hugh for doing this and the several responses great news that it is still going ahead it promises to be really beautiful. But to clarify it is situated on the corner of Green lanes and Lothair Road?
Yes, right there on the corner opposite The Beaconsfield. Prior to Haldun's development, the site had a colourful past as a "sauna".
Really glad to hear it is still going forward.
Saw activity up the side of the property this evening (probably the canopy over an outside-ish smoking area), lights on inside, and asked about progress. I was told May. Oh, and he "will get in touch with Huge" (alright, Hug-e, sorta phonetically to my duff ears) when it's about to open
