Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

morning all,

firstly hello, i'm new on here (lived in and around wood green for about 13 years, worked in tottenham all of that time too)...  chatting to some friendly neighbours on my road last night who recommended this place, so here i am  :)

right, now the niceties are outta the way, rant time.  i went to the sorting office on tottenham lane yesterday morning (as i do a lot of mornings as i have a lot of records delivered), and i was horrified to learn that, as of monday 22nd sep, the tottenham lane sorting office will no longer exist, and instead we'll have to go to tufnell bleedin park to collect our packages.

the new address is...

unit 11-13, bush industrial estate, station road, n19 5un

does anyone know if all the sorting offices in the area are closing down?  aside from tottenham lane, where i've lived in the past i've had to go to ally pally by the station, or green lanes on the retail park.  both of those would be preferable to jumping on a 41 bus every time i have a package to collect, but i'm guessing they're closing those too?

failing that, if anyone knows somewhere to buy a really wide letterbox (ie 12" wide) please lemme know.  cheers!

rant over, sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

Yep it is going to be a right old pain in the @&£). The Arena office went a while back so it probably is the case that things are being centralised, with little apparent thought about the poor sods who have to collect their parcels. Do have a look at the links Hugh mentions - there have been various discussions about this and there are some helpful suggestions about how to make the trip (a little) less annoying..
Large letterboxes available for £5-£10 from hardware/DIY stores in Green Lanes. Had mine fitted some years ago to receive bundles of documents!

External mailbox an option too I guess, though needs to be very stout and very secure to the house wall to avoid being jemmied off.

yep like you have a quite a few vinyl albums delivered but today i ventured out to Tottenham Lane collection point with red card in hand to see it had shut down.

So, got in car ( big box of envelopes to collect) tapped in the post code into the Sat Nav and off i drove towards Wood green...Could I find it once I hit Station Road?..No!..I tried to park around the streets but they are all 8am - 10am or worst no parking times. I gave up.

Worse I've now realised its Station Road IN Islington near Tufnell park!!

At home arranging another postal attempt which I'm sure I'll be out.

Tottenham Lane sorting office sorley missed.

ps Where the heck is Bush Ind Est ?

Have a look at this thread.

The Green Lanes Sorting office closed over a year ago and was turned into a TK Max.

So we too have to go to Tufnell Park.

Just keep friendly with your neighbours so they'll accept yr deliveries or avoid Royal Mail as my h as possible.

hi there...it is causing my son a major headache as like you he too has records delivered...he had a delivery just at the end of the life or hornsey sorting office and asked for it to be delivered to a post office of his choice....it never got there! my son has been to tuffnel park 3 times now and they have no idea where this record is....stolen no doubt! this i think could well be a sign of things to come...grrrrr!!!
