Ten-year old takes Tottenham 'Regeneration' to task
ON WEDNESDAY evening, I attended the Council's Tottenham Strategic Regeneration Framework meeting in Tottenham Town Hall's splendid Moselle Room.

Many of those present will remember the little girl who – initially against the wishes of the official panel – went up to the microphone to read out a question.
She got part-way through and burst into tears.
Apparently, the Council's plans mean the demolition of her home.

Very sad, hopefully they go to great lengths to find her an even better home, just like they did at Woodberry Down. Oh wait, that was Hackney. As you were.

"Find her an even better home?" What paternalistic elitism is that? Better by who's standards?
The assumption here that she is a child of a council tennant also needs addressing. She is actually the child of a homeowner and a business owner. Her family own a shop of which they live above. Regardless, even if she were a council tennant, they have a secure tennacy. Its a home not a "property".
It appears an Englishman's castle is their home, unless it's in the way of a walkway for a footy team of course.

Absolutely right Seema. Bob and Lia-Clera run a very popular business which they have developed themselves. No £550k grant for them, or leased premises like those being provided for the international architects McAslan's. The Council should be celebrating families like them not forcing them from their homes and businesses. Tottenham isn't just a stadium and sites for developers.

FOR some, "summer events" in London might alude to The Season.
I was slightly bemused that at the Regeneration meeting above, one of the display panels listing the recent history of Tottenham, showed 2012 (?) Summer Events.
You and I may know this better as the riots of 2011 (in plain English).
In the past, a few in the Council have treated these summer "events" lightly, if not frivolously.
