Emergency Meeting Gaza
Still struggling with adding posts in the right place, so will try to do this here. Just to let you know of this very local meeting - if you have been moved/horrified/ by events in Gaza.

I've never understood why anyone participates in these things (not just for this cause but similar issues iraq/turkey/etc). Have they ever achieved anything other than be a platform for justifiable outrage?
Are they aid/fund raisers?
Is it to scratch the "something must be done" itch.?

I'm not happy that they held this in the Mosque. Are they trying to turn a territorial conflict into a religious one ?

I would be willing to participate in a constructive pro-peace meeting in which people talk about building bridges and creating hope. This doesn't look like it will be particularly productive.

What's wrong with it being in a Mosque? if it were in a Christian church would that also be a problem? The children being burned to death and blown apart are both Christian and Muslim......It would be great if it were held in a Synagogue but that's not going to happen is it?

Not all Palestinians are Muslim: not all Israelis are Jewish.
To hold this meeting in the Mosque reinforces the idea that it is Jewish / Muslim conflict.
I wonder how many Jews from Stamford Hill would have felt comfortable attending this meeting ?
I wasn't there and it may have been a very balanced discussion but somehow I doubt it.

Because the BBC and virtually the entire media of the UK has been putting the Israeli case for years, implying that the Palestinians are terrorist when it is the state of Israel that is terrorist and has stolen the land of the Palestinians. Many leading politicians including Ed Miliband, David Cameron, and the lying guy have all pledged their allegiance to Israel and most of the Conservative mps are members of Friends of Israel. Gaza has been illegally blockaded for years and the Israelis wont' even allow them to import cement to repair their homes that Israel destroys on a regular basis.

Actually, not all Orthodox Jews are Neturei Karta. I think the point is, this meeting looks like it will just fan the flames of hate, rather than do anything positive to help either side.
