Personally, I think more needs to be done with the American gardens and getting the Harringay side of the Park opened up (but leaving the softball/baseball part as it is).

Why only 6/10 for "Getting in"?
It's served by loads of bus routes, two tube lines & overground rail. It has parking for cars and a secure bike park. What transport links would you need for a 9 or a 10?

You're right, that is odd.
Here is the entry for Springfield Park
"The lack of tube connections is almost a bonus – a scenic wander or cycle along the Lea River towpath is a bucolic way to get there. Otherwise take a 48, 55, 106 or 242 bus to Upper Clapton Road and head down Springfield Park Road."
For which it receives "Getting in 8/10".
It would seem tube connections is a disadvantage!

I like Farmer's Markets. They are a chance to meet producers like English wine growers , bakers and so on as well as the fruit, veg and sausages brigade, buy from source and eat nice food/drink cider/beer etc. I don't see why Islington, Camden and Muswell Hill should have all the fun!

I'm just pulling your leg. The last time I looked organic growers were exempt from subsidies.
I have often wondered what at such 'local' markets is there always stalls selling olives. Do we have many olive tree plantations in the UK.
As much as I "quite" like them, I begrudge the mark up so get my olives from Green Lanes instead : )

Agree with Liz - would like to get the American gardens used a bit more, perhaps expand the little teeny playground at our end (or is that just greedy/lazy of me?) and add a coffee and ice cream stand around there so that you don't have to rely on the slightly erratic service in the main cafe. Larger skateboard/BMX park?
By the way, anyone here know anything about bowling? Do you have to be over 60 to do it? Is it fun? Always seems deserted when I'm there.

It is the new "thing" to do in the city it would appear. Tonight all my colleagues were taken out bowling (not ten pin, definitely lawn). Just wrong.

I have seen people playing on the green in the summer. No you don't have to be old to enjoy it. My Dad played it for years and I often went with him to watch as a kid. It's a skillful game and much harder than it looks. I guess the Friends Of Finsbury Park might know something about the bowling club. Anne Barwick is on the site and a Friend of FP.

I reckon Ducketts needs a bowling green. Calm all those hyper kids down. Then again, they'd probably end up practising for shot put instead as they tried to nut each other.

The park is a really good place which I like a lot but this review is a bit OTT. The cafe isnt wonderful, I preferred the old one (tho I realise that the raised seating was a major problem). there isnt much of an outside area now to sit in the sun as before and it has lost its character. A farmers market would be good! we have to put up with the funfair three times a year (then joggers like me have to go on a detour as a whole section is blocked off just as when there are concerts.)
More small local concerts would be nice in summer, celebrating the area, not money making extravanganzas

A friend of mine had an idea to have kids under 10 learning to play cricket on bowling greens when the bowlers are not using them.
