I came home from work to see that someone had stolen my courgette plant from out front. It had got 3 small courgettes growing and I was nurturing them. I had the plant hidden away behind a spare set of wheelie bins but still someone spotted it, came in the gate and took it off.
Very upsetting and disappointing. I don't have a garden so tried growing something in front instead. I won't bother again.

I'm sorry to hear that Ruth. So annoying. We planted a sunflower plant with the kids out the front and twice someone yanked it out of the ground, it hadn't even flowered yet. The poor plant didn't survive the second uprooting. The mentality of some people continues to astound me. Why ruin someone else's gardening? We're just trying to make things a little better but they can't help themselves. Don't let it get to you. Try again!
Thanks Rebecca. I know it happens all the time but it shouldn't. That's a shame about your sunflower plant. People don't need to be so thoughtless. last year my neighbour downstair had a huge potted plant nicked from out thee- how they carried it off don't know but they did. She's put another one out this year so hopefully it stays put!
happy gardening.
Oh this is always a pain in the arse if you are trying to use your front garden to grow stuff. Other day I found someone had pulled up a tomato plant and dumped it on the ground as well as cutting down and stealing my alliums. I've also had sunflowers destroyed and this week someone broke off a bit of my fuchsia bush and then threw it into the garden. My neighbour has lost dahlias.
I agree with Rebecca. Try again! Grow herbs in a windowbox, tomatoes, strawberries. Out garden the beggars.
You're very persistent Liz, after all that horrible vandalism and destruction. I'll wait a bit now, a bit busy with the new job. I can't do window boxes cus of the way my windows are. At least have a few plants int the bit of dirt in front, hope they remain intact!
Perhaps just get a load of bulbs in when autumn comes. I want to help green this area in my own small way.
Thanks Alison for that nice message! I will try something else but probably rethink or avoid the pot arrangement. They lifted a big, heavy one my neighbour put out in the year before. I'll try to fill the small patch of dirt out there with a variety of thngs. I've got a small bit of morning glory that is growing and hopefully will flower.
Good luck with your efforts!
Thanks Cheryl. Sorry to hear about your theft. It happens all over I know but I will hope you keep your current shrubs!
My morning glory is beginning to flower perhaps in sympathy so that's something nice.
Nicely planted containers are just the thing for selling at boot fairs, I'm told. They're not being stolen by people who love plants. You can hang onto them by running bolts through them into the concrete, through a spare drainage hole if there is one. Or wire them up to the mains.
I left a pair of shoes in my back garden for about 15 mins with garden door unlocked, and then they disappeared, both of them. I was told that they could be taken by cats or foxes, at least I would like to think that way, so that we don't lose our faith because of some stupid folks.
