Closer to where I live and could give you opportunity for other food stalls reflective of the location.
Is this a covered venue? If so you should definitely take it. I'd still come, it's even nearer than before.
I'd come. I'm in N15 so it's nearer me, no hill and I don't have to get my visitors' kids safely across Green Lanes.
I've never got to your market as often as I would have liked - living in Crouch End and with a tendency to laziness on a Sunday morning always meant I had to be feeling particularly focused and energetic to get there. There have been numerous times when I've even found myself on Green Lanes at the bottom of Mattison Road after a visit to Baldwins at the right time on a Sunday and simply couldn't be arsed to walk up lugging whatever shopping I already have, to my shame. I think Portland Gardens looks a potentially excellent location and certainly no worse than Mattison Road in terms of backofbeyondness. I think the greater proximity to Green Lanes (and the Arena, however horrible it is), the W5 and not having the hill could work in your favour. I also like the idea of it being based at the Kurdish Centre. I'd go for it.

Works for us! Heck, it would be even closer than Totty Market. I'd probably do both
Hi Jessica,
Funny this has not been thought about before, Kurdish Community Centre is a great venue in a great location in Harringay's food and retailing area, much closer to passing trade than the market's current and previous locations. However weekends, especially Sundays are very busy days at KCC with events (and a fair amount of congestion) taking place throughout the afternoon and evening and I am surprised they can accommodate the market at at its usual times. Would it have to start/finish earlier? This is a bold, exciting move on many levels: market could become more food shopping oriented, less recreational (nothing wrong with the latter) ; bringing organic food at the heart of Kurdish/Turkish land is exciting and may eventually lead to Green Lanes taking local needs more seriously (it is still impossible to find organic milk on GL, in 2014!). Also it will be good for KCC to open its doors to a wider use and it will be very convenient for the future residents of the St Ann's development. Finally closing is not at all a good option.
yes I would still go to the market. good luck.
Hi Jessica,
I'm not speaking as a regular customer, but don't see the location as a problem at all, possibly a benefit, and just wanted to add encouragement.
Maybe being nearer to Arena would give the opportunity to promote it more to people who come and do their shopping there? Many of them have never heard of it, and people come from miles around to do their weekly shop there. I also have neighbours in West Green who shop on green lanes but STILL think their local market is Alexandra Palace, and they've not heard of the Tottenham one either :)
Good for the KCC also.
Good luck!
