Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Street tree of the month has to be the pink flowered hawthorn that is blossoming around the neighbourhood. The one at the bottom of my road is just gorgeous

No, there are scarlet varieties of hawthorn.

One day, if we can do it, Haringey Tree Wardens would like to highlight the beauty brought to us by local trees, maybe in a calendar.  Hope people will respond with lovely photos like this - thanks Liz!

During our last tree walk, Stephen pointed out that the colours of Horse Chestnut flowers show the degree of pollination. White for not yet, red for fully:

As there are so many Horse Chestnuts around, maybe someone would take a local photo or two we can use?

The colour was a surprise to me as well. I don't think I have ever seen pink hawthorne--but then maybe I have, without identifying it.

It is indeed magnificent.
