I hope you'll join me in wishing Amine good luck for his restaurant, newly opened today.
Originally from Algeria, Amine opened Al Fath butcher/supermarket/rotisserie on Green Lanes five years ago. With roasted birds doing much better business than his meat and grocery, Amine took the decision to convert to a restaurant. I was glad to see he hadn't left us since a good rotisserie chicken can be quite the treat!
I'm adding a few iPhone snaps of Amine, his restaurant (interior still to be finished!) and the shop front.
Pompelma can be found between Umfreville and Burgoyne.

Thank you for this Phil. I could not have put it better and I agree 100%.
Haha I thought you meant embrace the concept of Tayyab's in Whitechapel! Great food but I'm not sure anyone has ever asked Tayyab's where their lamb was raised
Is the above photo what you class as "sprucing up the interiors"?
Robert - a similar thought crossed my mind - which is why i encourage everyone to visit Buonissimo to see how it can be done. Great decor, yes there is a big TV screen but it was turned down when we visited, so not particularly obtrusive - and you can't blame them with the World Cup coming up. However the style is definitley a step up from 80% of the other eating establishments in the area and 1000% better than anything on West Green rd
Seems you and I like our colours a little less primary and our patterns a little less zig-zaggy. It's all gone a bit Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen hasn't it. Hope the food is good because that space really puts me off.
I agree, Buonissimo - and Blend also - take the view that you don't have to cover every single surface in something to make a decent space for eating in.
But the Green Lanes foodie formula works and sets it apart from Soho and alike.
Robert - I have calm and neutral moments and visual overload ones. Now I have a choice of venues!
Although I'm a meat-eater, the sight of those chickens - euwwwwwww
Excellent news. The smell of the chicken pulls me in on a regular basis.
We went there for some chicken, chips & salad last night, eating in, and it was EXCELLENT.
I always liked their takeaway chicken. It's a very friendly and welcoming place, a great addition, as it's a bit different from what Green Lanes has to offer otherwise, and the booths feel good.
I wish them all the success they deserve.
