Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I've been reading the various posts and leaflets from the parties standing candidates in Harringay ward and have come to conclusion that what I want (my personal preference) is as follows

As it's inevitable that Labour will be in the majority (please don't try to deny that candidates, you know it's the case) an effective opposition that really hold the Cabinet to account for their actions and promises.

Local candidates of any party who make realistic commitments to local people about local issues, not national ones, that they will deliver and if they can't, tell us why and what they are doing about it.

Candidates who don't just materialise at election time and even if they are not elected keep plugging away between elections.

Candidates who respond to questions with answers, not cleverness or rudeness.

Anyone else have a wish list?

Yes sure Justin but the Conservative candidates are so unlikely to be elected that there's no point.

You can't say that, John.

My view that a Labour majority is a foregone conclusion has shifted somewhat since I first started this thread. I'm now thinking LibDems taking all three seats in Harringay and goodness only knows happening in St Ann's. I have absolutely no evidence that this will be the case, just the old feeling in the water.
I also think that Justin is right and that it can't be assumed that the Conservatives will take no seats (double negative but I think you know what I mean). Maybe for once this will be a slightly more interesting election than usual.

You coming along to the hustings, Michael?

Most certainly am Hugh. I love a good hust.

I'm rather sad that of the three Labour candidates they have sent Emine. It means that nobody will be able to express surprise at Gina's presence or ask James how to collect screenshots from social media sites.

I'm so disappointed that James Ryan can't make it!

I was planning to come along and ask him - very gently - about the compilation of screenshots of tweets by a Labour Party member.

I assume that - because at the time he was the Political Assistant to the Labour Group - he might be able to shed light on this. In the cause of openness and transparency - principles the Party holds dear.

In particular I'd like to know whose idea this was; when it first happened; and for how long the collecting went on?  Was it done in someone's private time on their own computer; or during their employment? Then, who the folder of screen shots was delivered to.

I wonder if more than one Labour Party member had such a personal file of tweets or other information compiled about them. Just in case they might at some point put themselves forward as a candidate.

By the way the Party member is not me. If any Labour apparatchik reading this wants to see my old and new tweets I'm told that Twitter will supply a zipped file of the lot. So they only need to ask me politely, giving their email address at the secret police HQ.

Typical lawyer Alan, only asking questions you already know the answer to. Claire Kober asked him to do this, in her kitchen, while her husband was there. He collected them on a Haringey Council provided computer when he shared an office with Joe Goldberg. Anyone in the "Save Downhills" campaign was a target, including the MP!

Well quite Alan

Almost everything I publish is creative commons. If anyone at HQ feels the need to screen shot one of my pearls of wisdom, don't forget I require attribution and it may not be used for commercial publications without my written permission and an offer to donate Friends of South Harringay a substantial amount

John, I know nothing at all about the kitchens or the kitchen cabinets of Muswell Hill.

It's many decades since I practised as a lawyer.  But even when I did, I wouldn't dream of predicting whether or not some Raskolnikov felt compelled to speak the truth. As Dostoevsky wrote in Crime and Punishment, "Nothing in the world is harder than speaking the truth and nothing easier than flattery."

There's still time for someone to set one up, Phil.

You mean by the GRA?
