Thanks Michael - we have published the list here
http://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/full-list-of-candidates...
And for easy reference highlighted the candidates in Harringay, St Ann's and Seven Sisters.

It's a clever marketing ploy, isn't it?  Like FCUK.

Your eye is drawn to the misspelling and the names of the Tory candidates.  In 2010 they tried a similar dodge by spelling the name of one their candidates in two different ways.

(Tottenham Hale ward councillor)

Oh for goodness sake, Michael, Alan.  Don't be so RIDICULOUS.  It's obviously just a typo.

Since I am a Conservative candidate, I am legally obliged to put this on all my correspondence.  However nobody on the list below is telling me what to say.  Promoted by Justin Hinchcliffe on behalf of Lydia Rivlin, Massimo Rossini, Sean Rivers and Harringay Conservatives, all at 178 Walpole Road, London, N17 6BW.    Tel: 020 8374 6305

I didn't suggest anything otherwise. I pointed it out as it was amusing. Why on earth are you being angry?
Especially as spelling seems so important to Lydia. Lydia, do you have a Grammar policy? ;-)))

Lydia supports the three Rs (think about it)

The Sheila Peacock School of Marketing, init?

Thank you - and well done - for spotting this typo. I have just asked Electoral Services to correct it (their mistake!). I note that the typo appears twice.

Liz, I think you should have included West Green--it's not too late. Many people from this area are HOL subscribers/contributors.

Justin Hinchcliffe - Conservative Agent and candidate (Seven Sisters).

"I have just asked Electoral Services to correct it (their mistake!). I note that the typo appears twice."

If Electoral Services is making this sort of mistake it becomes far more serious. The nomination forms are legal documents (with criminal penalties for false information).  Okay, this is a silly slip and most voters will not be bothered by it. But what if the mistake was in the postcode or street number? Candidates could be accused of misleading electors. Even a single letter or number may make a difference.

In 1992 a candidate described his party as "Literal Democrat" winning 10,000 votes in elections for MEP. This led to a change in the law.  It seems there's currently a row  about a former UKIP member standing under the name “An Independence From Europe” with the tagline “UK Independence Now”.

But here Mr Hinchcliffe tells us that the error was by Haringey's Electoral Services staff who have wrongly copied information from the nomination papers.

This must not happen.  Electors need to have completely accurate and reliable information when they come to vote. Some elections are lost and won on a handful of votes after recounts.  If only a few people are doubtful about a listed candidate with a mispelled Party name this could affect the outcome.

I am writing to Nick Walkley as Returning Officer to raise the issue. It's actually more important than this afternoon's weather.

(Tottenham Hale ward councillor)

Spotted another one. This is for the Tottenham Green ward and they have put the party of the first candidate listed as Conservatice. Whoever was doing the typing doesn't seem to have used spell check. Like you say, if these end up on the actual ballot paper...........
I think the returning officer will need to recheck everything, names, addresses etc, if an error this basic has happened three times.

Thanks Michael.

If anyone else spots one of these silly errors they are welcome to email me.     alan.stanton@virgin.net

I'll include it when I write to Haringey's Chief Executive.

(Tottenham Hale ward councillor. Not standing in May election.)

Alan, I've PM'd you about a small spelling error I noticed in the list
