What's the procedure to request a small street party in a small side street in haringey ?

Is there a go-to person ?

Hope this is up your street...

A small street party?  That'd be The Greens, I guess.

Go to haringey.gov.uk and look thro to find section on organising street party or festival. You need to apply for roadclosure (£80) show evidence that majority of residents are in favour of party, maybe get public liability insurance, but if you are part of a Neighbourhood Watch you are already covered. Ask the NHW coordinator or LSCP (Ian Sygrove). You need an events licence only if you are opening up to the wider public, i.e. people who don't live there or are invited friends. The fun bit is up to you!

Good luck!

We had to petition the whole street and get signatures (form more than half the residents) and make the application to the council for the Pemberton Play Street. This was fairly straight forward, though the signature collection was pretty time consuming. There is a lady in the council who is hopefully taking over the role of Play Street coordinator- Wendy Thorogood who might be helpful 020 8489 5351. Not sure if she can help on the party front, but she might be a good place to start.

I had previously tried to close Pemberton for a one off resident event but the council were a bit iffy about it and placed so many ludicrous barriers in the way (such as the need for professional marshals at £1,000 and the errection of barriers to keep the great unwashed from the street itself) I gave up and went ahead and did it with the street open to cars anyway- we had a hoot. I suspect this was because Pemberton is a bit of a busy rat run street. If your street is a bit quieter then maybe you will get lucky!
