Rainbow high - the view yesterday from Ally Pally

I really loved this. Moving and funny and sweet. And, as a side note, I had no idea there was a Victorian theatre in Ally Pally. Obviously I'm well behind the curve.

There is but it's disused. I believe there are plans to brink it back to its former glory - I hope this will happen as it's such an amazing space! And woul be a lot more suitable for gigs than the main auditorium, terrible acoustics.

Unfortunately the theatre space has been locked up and derelict for many years following numerous mishaps at the palace over its history. The theatre sits in the wing behind the ice rink.

Recently plans have been unveiled to bring back to its former glory as the attached describes. I have been in the space and even as shabby as it currently looks it could be magnificent once more!

Having spent the afternoon there, I have to say that the theatre looked stunning in its faded glory. It was like viewing in real time through an instagram filter.

Shabby can look fantastic, vis Wilton's Music Hall

Having been to Waltons pre-closure for refurb I can agree that the space was up to the task of hosting a show - saw the production of the Great Gatsby. The bar worked fine despite props holding up beams...etc. Though peak through a crack in a door and you see some rooms were without floors and ceilings. But commendable that they used the space and are bringing it back to life slowly but surely.

Turning to Ally Pally, the TV show was a great showcase for a hidden gem, and only now has someone had the vision to revive it. This area needs spaces like that for theatre, gigs, and events like weddings.

Yay!!! Congratulations to the couple and everyone involved.

Forgot to say, we both sat on the sofa watching the wedding, blubbing like 5 year olds. Brilliant programme. Best wishes to Nathan and Ben for a long and happy life together.

Big jessies !

Got us in two words there John!
