As mentioned a number of times on HOL, horrid people are stealing plants around our neighbourhood and it is also happening in N15.
However the N15 thief was caught on CCTV at my colleagues house (see below), who then ran out and caught the guy (a tall slim, Portugese man, who cycles around in the day on a mountain bike and lives in N15). The police attended and cautioned him. But please look out for this individual as he may be over in N8 stealing our plants soon.

Excellent. I would be curious to know what he does with them. Is he selling them at a market or something?
Are you serious?
He just said that surely. Why wasn't he fined, esp as it says in the post he's known for trawling the neighbourhood looking to steal?
When I once asked a local 'scavenger' what he did with all his treasures, he told me he took them to a car boot sale once a month. Somehow, I imagine, given the fact this chap seems to be taking stuff in pots and boxes, that he might be found selling his stolen geraniums in the next pitch of that car boot sale.
But, as Matt Cuthbert says, if he's trying to make a garden on no money, he's welcome to come and get some freebies at the Harringay seed swaps. I can even provide spare plant pots.
@matt. Looks like we've been wrongly accusing those old ladies with shopping wheelie bags. Blokes in Hi-vis 'make you look like the council' jackets is who we should be investigating closely.
Ha! That is brilliant :) I mean, well caught.
Can't believe what a sophisticated operation it appears to be, either, I mean he's clearly no opportunist...what ARE they doing with them I wonder?
What do you mean he got 'caught'? how do you catch someone who's walking away with your plants, ask him to stand still until the police arrive? Just being curious.
My colleague ran down the road and caught him! Should have thrown him in jail or a big ditch with nettles and brambles for a while.
Your colleague? Are you both security guards or something?
No gardeners; we both work for Morton Gamble Gardens (specialising in grounds/estate maintenance work in the growing season and fencing and tidy ups through winter) who love our plants : (
So we have gardeners who chase after thieves and hairdressers who do the same. Is this place not awesome?
