Many thanks Maggie. Very useful as you say. 

Though in nine years of taking street photos I've never been challenged by a police officer. Nor spoken to one who wasn't courteous. And that includes on political marches; and after the Tottenham riot.

... and even outside Buckingham Palace.

I had assumed it's because, these days, they know that many streets are full of people constantly taking snaps. It can't be because I'm impeccably dressed and coifed.
