Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I noticed this morning while taking the kids to school that some little bastard has let their dog loose on the swings in Fairland Park (large and small) with the result that there are bits everywhere.

Nothing is sacred... Are they ruined or still servicable.

Still serviceable - there are bite marks out of the small ones but they will still work.  The damage on the large swing is to the border round the edge so it will work too.  I'm  not sure whether this has happened since the park's revamp but it used to happen a lot in the bad old days.

Thank you for this.  I will contact the council and let them know and ask them to get someone from parks to take a look to access the damage and how it can be rectified.

Could you also please let them know the same has happened in the Anstey Walk play area (when it was "improved" I warned it needed to be locked at night but to no avail) and wires are exposed in the tyre swing which could seriously injure a child?

Thanks

The council have been to assess the damage and report that there is minor damage to the two cradle swings but they are still safe to use.  The larger swing has extensive damage and the fitters have looked at it today with a view to replacing it this week. In the meantime they consider it safe to use.

If anyone has any idea of the culprits it would be most useful - the council can then use some enforcement action.

If you can give me the exact location of the Anstey Walk play area I can get the council to have a look at that too.

Thanks for the swift update. We are regular users of Fairland Park (although not so much in subzero temperatures), so it is good to know someone has checked the equipment.

Thanks - it's adjacent to Anstey Walk N15 between St John Vianney school and West Green Road.

I believe it is known to the parks department as the Culross Play area.

Thanks Karen - the quys are in Fairland Park this morning doing something to the large swing.

Hi Karen

The swing is still in the same condition. Can someone please come out and have a look? Any injury from this swing would be a nasty one and carry the risk of infection...

I'm aware of some chatter about controlling dogs in parks and play areas but it seems vague and you've still got act in some way. Advice on confronting/responding to such behaviour wouldn't go amiss - guidance or a hotline number in parks perhaps.
