I've just seen two heavily laden Jewsons lorries driving down Burgoyne Road at 750am.
I understood that these lorries weren't meant to come down the Ladder streets, due to the weight they carry, and the impact on the judder bars and houses (does anyone else's house shake when they go past?)
I recall a forum about this a while ago, but if anyone has any ideas about who to complain directly to in the Council, please let me know.
Thanks!
Really, you can only complain that their speed is excessive. They have a right of access to their yard

Yes, you have a valid complaint. They shouldn't be driving down your road at all if their weight exceeds the limit. They have been relying up to now on an erroneous understanding of an access exemption in the relevant by-law which, if you read the by-law itself (pdf posted above), does not allow them use of the ladder roads at all. To date, my approach has been that providing they are good neighbours and drive over the judder bars slow enough as to not cause our houses to shake, we won't make a fuss about it. Despite their corporate PR's initial engagement, this doesn't seem to have had the result I had hoped for...
Don't misunderstand me - I'm not taking Jewsons' side. But how is their interpretaion of access erroneous ?
They have access to Wightman (where their yard is), but not ladder roads, unless they are making deliveries there. Chapter and verse (and a pdf of the relevant ordinance) are somewhere earlier on this thread.
The relevant ordinance makes no distinction between Wightman and other ladder roads. If they were delivering to the Arena, would you have them go all the way along Wightman and Turnpike Lane then back down Green Lanes ?
Wightman is residential with speed bumps too. Moderate speed is the answer.
