Hello Everyone
I’m writing to invite you all to our next Area Forum and Committee meeting. It's on Thursday 20 September at the Cyprus Kitchen, 628-630 Green Lanes, N8 0SD. The Area Forum runs from 6.30pm - 8.30pm, and will be followed by our area committee meeting.
Our main topic is a discussion, ‘question time’ style about Houses in Multiple Occupation. This is a hot topic across the borough, and very significantly in Harringay and St. Ann’s wards. As Chair of the Forum I’m trying to make these more interactive. For this discussion our panel will include Ian Sygrave local resident and Chair of the Ladder Community Safety Partnership, Gloria Saffrey, Director of local homelessness charity CARIS, and senior Council officers. The panel will respond to your comments and questions, and explore the implications of national policy and local strategies in this hugely complex area.
As background, the Council is considering applying for an Article 4 Direction which would cover a large section of the borough and if agreed, would put in additional controls on landlords and conversions. Our meeting falls just two days after the Cabinet meeting where this is being discussed so would form part of the Article 4 consultation process if the report is agreed.
Other topics on the agenda include an Update on the new waste arrangements. This follows on from our last meeting and Liz Ixer’s challenging presentation. Also brief items on the welfare benefit changes; and the proposed post office move from Arena Retail Park.

I hope you will find time to come and look forward to seeing you.
