Just wondering if anyone has. It's been 3 weeks since ours was emptied. I put it on top of the recycling bin to make sure they couldn't miss it, and it was put back in it's usual spot without being emptied.
Is it just me?

Hi Adrian
Mine has been emptied the last two week but by standing the bin in front of the wheelie bin so they couldn't miss it. Previous to that it was being routinely ignored and I would report it to Veolia as missed collection. You should do the same. I tend to email them directly at Enquiries Haringey <enquiries.haringey@veolia.co.uk> to complain but you can also report it via Haringey's website. Worries me that this is still an issue as if food waste isn't collected this is likely to discourage people from using the service.
It took them three weeks and a compliant until they took mine! Veolia, once so eager to speak up on this website, have been very quiet of late.
They missed mine this week. As well as the garden waste. but managed the green bin this time.
I am at a loss as to see why they have become shoddy, almost over night.
All fine here.
If you're in a shared occupancy it might be worth checking that nobody has put non-biodegradable waste in the bin - even if e.g. it's food in a non-bio plastic bag.
AFAIK - they're meant to empty the bins even if the food is put in loose without bio bags - but in reality your chances of them scraping out week old food is probably pretty slim - which IMHO is fair enough.
If they are 'missing' the collection - as opposed to not collecting it - like Liz says: Report it.
Good luck.
how do you get them to empty the old bin? They have ignored it now for the last couple of weeks, but it needs to be emptied before it can be moved out of the way.
Our food bin is emptied. I put it on the pavement next to the recycling rubbish sacks. I think once one of the food bags stuck to the bottom of the food bin and so when they tipped it out it stayed put in the bin. Just one of those things.
I have to say I thought I would have very little food waste so I'm aghast at how much I throw away! This recycling has really highlighted that. Better planning of meals is called for! Overall, despite the bin debacle and having to negotiate sacks instead of a huge bin, I feel good about the recycling scheme and that food waste is now going to be used to make compost and that the other recycling is not not going to landfill. I get a certain sense of satisfaction about recycling.
I complainted 3 times last week about them not taking my food and garden waste, and got the automated replies, but they did not bother to come and collect. So had to wait another week for it to be taken away in the end. Luckily the idiots Veolia managed this week. It's a miracle!!!
